
Chahab was born in1951 in Teheran ( Iran). In 1974 he went to France to study. Chahab was educated in France from 1974 to 1982, decorative arts in Nice then sculptural art in Aix-en-Provence. From 1986 to 1990 Chahab studied sculpture and ceramics at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. Since 1994 Chahab lives in France in the small town Nay at the foot of the Pyrenees. There he lives in an old flour mill that he changed into studios, gallery and an artotheque in Dutch style.
Chahab has become known for his bright and intense colours due to the use of pure pigments in his paintings. He also makes graphics, colour etchings, and sculpture in bronze and steel
His inspiration he finds in caveman’s painting, in archaeological site and in primitive art.
For a long time he combined graphics with calligraphy.
From his place in Nay he organizes exhibitions throughout in Europe: in 1986-’87-’89 Helsingborg Sweden, 1986-1991 Le Port on Ile de la Réunion, 1992 Kopenhagen DK, 1996 Stockholm Sweden, 1994-’97 Toulouse France, 1996-’99-2001 Amsterdam, 1998-2000 Grenoble F., 2000 Teheran Iran, 2003 Rotterdam, 2004 Paris F.
