Sebastian Scheid (1962), son of Karl and Ursula Scheid, a well known German potters couple. Sebastian worked in the studios of Dartington Pottery, Ruth Duckworth, Tatsuzō Shimaoka, Masamichi Yoshikawa and others. He is cutting his objects straight from the clay body. The so created neat, special shapes he labels as vases and boxes. In fact he creates autonomous sculpture. Structure of the surface is achieved by working with a cutting thread, the naturalness of the surfaces is obtained with sparsely application of glaze. The inner wands in contrast are smooth by a cover glaze and look silk like and precious. In glazing Sebastian chooses for modest colours.
