A new series of work by Ines the Booij attracts the attention by the new smooth hals mat glazes and the lack of decoration. New too are the vases with holes in several executions and colours. On her work she writes as follows: “I see myself as a modern potter. With the use of industrial techniques I create domestic wares in ceramics. I design the models myself and the production too is done in my studio. I make use of molds which give my work a smooth surface. Because I have chosen to produce in my own studion the still soft clay forms can be changed, this gives me the possibility to give each work an individual finish. Thus the rims of a bowl for instance can be cut in different ways. In designing new models I prefer simple and tight forms. Besides the many unique pieces I make I sometimes make a small series of the same form or in the same decoration.”
