Years of experience as a designer in a porcelain manufacture and the continuing work with material, form, and color have shaped my artistic style.
It is particularly important to me to harmonize functionality, the aesthetics of the form emphasized through hand painting, and the beauty of porcelain as material. As a porcelain designer, I combine competencies of sculptors and painters as well as architects and technologists.
In my workshop, I produce small-scale series of everyday objects with hand painting. I work with Limoges porcelain and coloured pigments for underglaze painting. My products are slip casted and post-processed by hand. A unique item made from porcelain can be compared to small architecture. This definition precisely describes the spatial possibilities of this material. The three-dimensional form includes a theme which is played scene after scene by spinning the object. In order to perceive my work as a creation, one must take time. Porcelain is unique: Porcelain allows to imitate other materials but is it hardly possible to do so vice versa. After I have discovered my love for porcelain 20 years ago, I try to express my feelings to art lovers through my work. I work instinctively and create my own intimate universe which unveils relationships, connections, and contradictions the way I perceive them. Clay is a versatile material and it is indispensable for the expression of my ideas. Porcelain surface is the canvas for my images. The interplay between sculpture, graphics, and painting is the essence of my creations.
